Tupping time
October 23, 2013 Haveriggs Farm
Sale of the lambs born in the Spring is going well with plenty of good grass for them at the moment, this of course will change as soon as the temperature drops and the frosts arrive, they will then need extra feed to supplement their diet!
We are already thinking of next year's crop of lambs which seems strange while we are just enjoying the arrival of Autumn! The leaves are turning and we have had some very changeable weather giving us very dramatic and abrupt changes in the light to form a spectacular backdrop to all the beautiful colours in our woods and surrounding area. This is the time of year when we put the 'Tups' (rams) to the ewes with coloured paint on their chests to help us keep a track of things at lambing time which explains the colourful sheep in the fields at this time!
