End of the lambing
April 25, 2013 Haveriggs Farm
We are reaching the end of the lambing now and Edward is putting a few more lambs out of the barn and into the fields but rather reluctantly as it is still cold and wet. Some of the more vulnerable lambs are going out with their coats on to give some protection until they are stronger. Lambing this year has been particularly difficult with cold conditions and the ewes struggling to maintain condition especially after a very poor summer. The result being that we have suffered more loss than usual with both ewes and their lambs.
On a more positive note - the grass is starting to come through and the daffodils are out! AND the permafrost has melted so Edward is thinking of putting the potatoes in!
