Tupping time

This time of year is the start of a new cycle of life on the farm beginning with our Texel rams being prepared to go in with the ewes. Always a bit of a tussle getting the harnesses on the a large reluctant sheep who is just as keen to push you around! The coloured blocks inserted at the front of the harness at the tup's chest will leave a mark on the ewes. These blocks are changed for different colours every few weeks to help us identify at which times the ewes will be lambing throughout March and April.
